Collection of Hadith

Prophet Muhammad’s Companions memorized his statements and actions.  In addition to memorizing these hadiths, many Companions wrote them down in their personal collections.  These hadith were passed down to the Companions’ students, and then to their students.  Several Muslim scholars compiled these hadith into compilations, which became popular and are still the primary sources of hadith today.
